For the first time, Chris Norman (traditional & early flutes and small pipes) and David Greenberg (baroque violin and Cape Breton fiddle) visit Victoria, mounting their renowned music school, Boxwood Festival in Queenscliff. Chris and David are performers, recording artists and teachers of the highest calibre. Last month, Chris was awarded an honorary doctorate for his contribution to the fields of traditional and early music. Chris and David successfully find that intersection between folk and early music, especially thorough their interpretation and performance of manuscripts and arrangements from 18th century Scotland. Boxwood Festival is perfect for flute or violin players with a classical background who want to explore the infectious melodies of traditional and folk repertoire from Scotland, Ireland and Nova Scotia Canada. As well as ensemble playing and technique tips, much repertoire is taught and communicated aurally in an encouraging and fun environment. Classes are especially suited to players of flute, whistle, recorder, violin, fiddle and smallpipes. The weekend offers accommodation, great meals, a concert and a ceilidh, as the deep connections between music, song and dance are at the heart of the program for the weekend.

Registration are now open at http://www.boxwood.org/australia

Some words of welcome

From Lochaber for Ever In all thy moods I love thee, In sunshine and in storm; Lochaber of the towering bens, Outlined in rugged form....
